Semachew Ayele MSc

We are pleased to announce that Semachew Ayele has successfully completed his MSc in Urban Water and Sanitation from the IHE Delft Institute for Water Education in the Netherlands. Everyone at the NDCC is very proud of what Semachew has acheived. Sue Turbett’s video reflects on Semachew’s journey from life on the street to a masters in water engineering.  

Update April 2020

NDCC News April 2020 In March Nicci Golland kindly volunteered at the Centre and stayed for 10 days. She had hoped to stay for longer but unfortunately her visit was cut short due to travel restrictions caused by Covid-19 and she needed to return to the UK before Addis Ababa airport closed. Update January 2020

In 2019 five NDCC students successfully graduated from university. We wish each of them every success in the future. 13 Years of NDCC

13 Years ago a group of students and teachers from Ryton Comprehensive School travelled to Ethiopia and during their visit they founded the New Day Children’s Centre. 13 years on the Centre continues to support disadvantaged young people in Bahir Dar. NDCC October 2018

In October the NDCC had a number of visitors. Steph and Rod Howarth flew out to Bahir Dar to meet up with and their son Ali and his wife Haneen who were travelling through Ethiopia on Defender Dora. Students Get Busy

Over the summer students have spent time repainting the NDCC Centre sign.   

Students Receive Textbooks

The students received t-shirts and textbooks donated by the local community.
